When to use a checkbox vs toggle token?

toggle token ux design

Toggle tokens have a greater tappable area than checkboxes.

The tappable area is visually as big as the label and easier to aim for.

Being a responsible designer/developer, you will make sure the checkbox is clickable even from the text, too.

But visually, the checkbox still appears to be clickable only from the small square box.

Toggle tokens are great from both UX and UI point of view.

But, toggle tokens shouldn’t be used for large labels (more than 3 words). They are horizontally constrained.

There’s scope for discussion here, in choosing checkboxes or tokens.

Why?

You need to confirm if your users know how to use a toggle token. Users may confuse it for a button.

If your users are fine with either of them, go for toggle tokens.

What do you think?
